![]() 2006-01-22 at 09:32:30. Mexico, Tampico. Stopped by the Transito Police (Car registration number XBG-24-77). The officer shown above stayed with the car, the other officer claimed we had been driving our "big trucks" in a restricted area (note the truck that has just passed). We were told that we had to go back to the station with him, etc. etc. Under these circumstances less experienced travelers might well have been tempted to offer the expected bribe. We have since learned that Tampico is notorious for this sort of thing. Perhaps somebody in Tampico would like to investigate? |
